ALL ARE WELCOME HERE! AT APPERSON ELEMENTARY

All Are Welcome Here! is a community mural created in collaboration with the graduating 5th grade class of Apperson Street Elementary in Sunland–Tujunga. The themes of the mural were identified by the school community in partnership with the nonprofit organization Sunland–Tujunga Forward. Centered on values of inclusion and equity, the mural’s imagery was developed from drawings created by students during a series of workshops led by artist Evelyn Hum Serrano.

The final mural was realized through a collective painting process that brought together the 5th grade class alongside students from TK through 4th grade, as well as families and school staff. Together, the mural emerged into a vibrant, shared visual statement celebrating belonging and welcoming school campus for all.
